So i'm going back through the TOPIK

just trying to understand, new vocab, and so on. but theres this one sentence and its killing me. Like i know what the question is asking. 에어콘 을 껐어요? Did you turn the air conditioning off, or something like that. The answer, 네, 다우시면 다시 켤라요? Which is something about turning it on again, but i can’t figure out what it means. And its really frustrating. 어땋게?

MasterChef Vocabulary: Noodles & Pasta
I’ve been watching MasterChef Korea and since it’s subtitled in Korean it’s easy to note down and pick up new vocabulary. Here’s some pasta/noodle related vocabulary from one of the challenges ^-^
소면: plain noodles
냉면: naengmyeon (cold noodles)
우동: udon noodles
쫄면: chewy noodles (similar to 냉면 but chewier)
라면: ramyeon/ramen

V+어/아/여 보다 ~ To try to V
The pattern V+어/아/여 보다 is used to express ‘try to do V’ or ‘give V a try’. Can also be used when talking about whether someone has tried or done something.
Examples 비빔밥을 먹어 보세요 Try the bibimbap

What Studying Language at University has Taught Me...

Interesting thought… I don’t know enough Korean either to distinguish the two, though I’ve previously presumed they were relatively interchangeable.

Examples 지금 휴가 중입나다 I/He/She is on vacation at the moment

I can, I cannot ~ -(으)ㄹ 수 있다/없다
The structure used to say you “can” do something is -(으)ㄹ 수 있어요. Conversely, for saying you “can not” do something is -(으)ㄹ 수 없어요. Simple! :)
Examples 스키를 탈 수 있어요. I can ski
한국어 조금 할 수 있어요. I can speak a little Korean
영어 할 수 있어요? Can you speak English?
피아느를 칠 수 없어요. I can’t play piano
잘 수 없어요. I can’t sleep

V+(으)ㄹ까 하다 can be used to express “thinking about (do)ing”, and is similar to V+(으)려고 하다, however the latter has a stronger interntion.

When +든지 is added to who/what/where/when/how it adjusts the meaning accordingly
누구든지 => everyone, whoever, anyone 무엇이든지 => anything, everything, whatever 어디든지 => everywhere, anywhere 언제든지 => anytime, everytime, whenever 어떻게든지 => however, no matter how

N1+말고 N2 ~ Not N1 but N2
So N1+말고 N2 is used when you want to say ‘Not N1, but N2’, so you reject one object while proposing another.

By using 아무 N+(이)나, we can say “any N”

We can use V+(으)ㄹ 수도 있어요 to say that it might or could V.
